A good alternative: artificial lenses

Apart from refractive laser surgery there are further surgical methods for correcting vision errors. Depending on the severity of a refractive error and/or if there are medical conditions against such a procedure implanting an artificial lens may be the most appropriate treatment. Most commonly the cornea is too thin or too dry.

So-called anterior chamber lenses are placed in front of the iris, so-called posterior chamber lenses are implanted in the space between the iris and the eye’s natural lens. These artificial lenses are implanted as additional lenses. Another option may be to replace your eye’s natural lens with an artificial one (lens exchange/Clear Lens Exchange).

For further information about refractive lens surgery (lens models, procedures etc.) see our Eye Clinic Theresienhöhe website.
