The astigmatic keratotomy
Little peripheral, arch-shaped cuts at the steepest part of the cornea cause it to relax and take a more rounded shape: curvature and astigmatism are reduced.
This procedure solely corrects astigmatism, neither nearsightedness nor farsightedness can thus be treated.
